Our Schools
“The National FFA Organization is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.”
Students who enroll in an agriculture education class will be a member of the National Future Farmers of America organization and create a foundation in agriculture. Students will participate in FFA events including chapter meetings, judging teams and keep an FFA record book as a part of their course grade. Students will be able to participate in hands-on learning and expand their knowledge of agriculture and career readiness.
“Farm to Fork teaches students the importance of knowing where their food comes from and how to make nutritious meals from it.”
Students start in the classroom where they learn about the food sector of the agriculture industry as they focus on the diversity of California and National Agriculture. Students also learn basic food science principles that they then apply in our SRC Knight Kitchen. Students in this class plan what to plant in the SRC Garden Center based on planting seasons, what to cook during class that aligns with our curriculum and what will flourish in the Merced area. Students are responsible for the tending and caretaking of this area as a student run project. Students learn full circle how to plant, care for and cook the products cultivated in the Farm to Fork Center.
This year Farm to Fork will be expanding with a chicken co-op, a Farm Store, Garden Center Produce for sale, Farm to Fork made products and much more!
