A Note About Athletics
I have been involved with athletics within Christian education for most of the last thirty years. It is with great anticipation that I begin my work at Stone Ridge Christian School during this place and time in the current history of our school. I look forward to working alongside the students, coaches, staff, and families as we continue to move forward in God’s calling for our school. These are exciting times at Stone Ridge Christian School.
My philosophy of athletics in the Christian school environment is based on many years of personal experience. The purpose of athletics within Christian education places equal emphasis on the three important areas of the mind, body, and spirit. My years of Christian school ministry leadership have always allowed me to incorporate and participate in the aspects of academic education, athletic participation, and the maturing of the Christian faith. To fulfill each student’s calling in their Christian walk it is essential that these three areas of education are honored and nurtured.
PHILOSOPHY OF THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM
Stone Ridge Christian School has a highly respected athletic program with a strong reputation for producing competitive teams and portraying good sportsmanship. The school takes pride in being sure that its young student athletes are good representatives of God and the school both on and off the field. God’s Word teaches us that physical training has great value for this life. In Paul’s letters, he uses figures from arena competition, including runners, boxers, gladiators, chariot racers and trophies to underscore that very point. Therefore, we believe athletics serve the Christian student athlete well and equips them with the tools, in part, for fulfilling God’s purpose in this life.
